Ipswich Borough Council has signed UNISON’s Anti-Racism Charter at an event held at Grafton House this week (12 September).
The Charter commits the council to:
Signing the Charter on behalf of the Council, in the presence of dozens of staff from across the Council, Councillors and UNISON representatives, Helen Pluck, Ipswich Borough Council’s Chief Executive, said:
“Tackling racism and all forms of discrimination are issues close to my heart and this Charter is an important representation of the Council’s commitment to tackling racism. I hope that colleagues who experience racism in any part of their lives know that they have real and true allies across the Council.”
Winston Dorsett, UNISON Eastern regional organiser added: “It’s fantastic that Ipswich Borough Council is making this firm commitment to tackling discrimination in all its forms.”
