How to pay your Council Tax bill

You can choose how often you pay your Council Tax:

  • Once a year for the year ahead, in April;
  • Twice a year, in April and October;
  • 10 monthly payments, usually from April to January on the 1st of each month;
  • If you pay by direct debit, you can choose to pay on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month;
  • You can arrange to pay over 12 months - to set this up complete our General enquiry form

Direct Debit

We encourage you to pay by Direct Debit, as this is the most economic and efficient way for you to pay and for us to collect. If you have a bank account and do not pay by direct debit but would like to, you can set this up online by clicking on the link below:

Pay online

You can use our online payments system to pay your Council Tax using a debit or credit card. You will need your Council Tax account reference shown on your bill.

By telephone

You can pay council bills over the telephone on our dedicated payment line which is available 24 hours a day: 01473 937866. You will need your Council Tax account reference shown on your bill.

Telephone/Internet banking or standing order

The details you will need are:

  • Sort Code 30-94-55
  • Account number 04900414

You will also need to quote your Council Tax account reference for each payment. Remember that payments can take a number of working days to reach us.

At a Payzone or Post Office

You can pay your council bills at any Post Office or Payzone, please take your bar-coded bill.
