Convenient ways to pay your Council Tax Bill

  • Direct Debit The convenient, modern way to pay from a current bank account. Payments are collected on either 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month.Paying by Direct Debit is both convenient and secure. All your payments will be protected by the Direct Debit guarantee.
  • Online You can pay by your debit or credit card 
  • By phone (01473) 937866 (available 24hrs).
  • Telephone/Internet banking/BACS sort code is 30-94-55, bank account number 04900414. Please remember to quote your account number for each payment (for bacs payments please email your remittance advice to banking.income@ipswich.gov.uk).
  • Post Offices and Payzone You can pay at any Post Office or Payzone outlet when presenting your bar coded bill. Please remember it can take up to 5 working days for your payment to reach us.

Online Key - You can view your account online at: https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/myaccount using your online key which is supplied overleaf. Your online key will be updated every time a new bill or notice is produced.

Phone- If you are experiencing financial difficulty and you are unable to bring your account up to date:

  • you can request an arrangement by completing the Special Payment Arrangement Form at www.ipswich.gov.uk/ctinstalments/, or
  • we may be able to rearrange your instalments to make them more manageable. Contact us on 01473 433955 (weekdays 8.45 am to 4.45pm)

You could be eligible for Council Tax Reduction which helps towards paying your Council Tax. For further information and to find out if you qualify for Council Tax Reduction by using the online calculator, please visit www.ipswich.gov.uk/CTR If you are of working age you may also be entitled to Universal Credit. You can apply for Universal Credit at www.gov.uk/apply-universal-credit. If you are entitled to Universal Credit the Department of Works and Pension may inform the Council and we will use this as your application for Council Tax Reduction.

It may share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering funds for these purposes. Further information about this can be found at www.ipswich.gov.uk/privacy When you contact us we do not disclose any information until we are satisfied you are the individual named on the account. To establish this you will be asked certain questions to verify your identity. We cannot discuss your account with a third party without your written authority to do so.
