The six stages are now being put in place at Christchurch Park, ready for the Indian Summer Mela on Saturday and Ipswich Music Day on Sunday!
And, with Ipswich Weekender events on Friday and Saturday around the town, there is plenty on offer to be enjoyed by all ages and musical tastes this weekend.
Last year’s Ipswich Music Weekend was the biggest and best on record, with 45,000 people attending the celebration over two days in Christchurch Park. Ipswich Music Day gets better every year, with more local talent performing this year than ever before and of course a funfair and variety of stalls.
51 artists are set to perform for Music Day on Sunday. BBC Radio Suffolk is an event partner, with a dedicated stage for BBC Introducing artists. Other stages are the Grapevine stage, Monument stage, Pond stage, Crossroads stage and Bowl stage.
Councillor Sophie Connelly, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Culture, says:
“We received lots of positive feedback about Music Weekend last year and everyone I’ve spoken to is really looking forward to this year with the good weather we are having.
It’s all about the community coming together to enjoy the local talent that Ipswich has to offer as a celebration of different music, with Ipswich Weekender events on Friday and Saturday and the Indian Mela on Saturday afternoon and Ipswich Music Day on Sunday.
What’s more, we can continue to celebrate music later this month with Global Rhythm in Christchurch Park on 8 July and One Big Multicultural Festival in Alexandra Park on 23 July.”
