Marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings

This Thursday, 6 June, at 11:00am, to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy, a service is to be held at the Ipswich War Memorial and Cenotaph in Christchurch Park.

During this commemorative service, the names of the Ipswich men who fell on the day of 6 June 1944 and during the first 20 days of the battle will be read out.

The service will be led by the Ipswich Branch of the Royal British Legion with Prayers by Father John Thackary. The Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Elango Elavalakan, will be laying a wreath on behalf of the people of Ipswich.

All are welcome to attend the event and join in the commemorations.
