The bustling Cornhill in Ipswich town centre fell silent today as noon approached and people paid their respects to those who were killed in the Tunisian beach massacre.
Market stall-holders and their customers were among those who stopped work and shopping to observe the UK-wide minute’s silence.
Deputy Mayor Bill Quinton made a short speech before a whistle marked the beginning and end of the silence. Mayor Glen Chisolm led the silence at Ipswich School, where he was special guest at the open day and prize-giving.
