Sleeping Beauty panto cast ready to entertain Ipswich

Published6th November 2023

The cast of this year’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty are all ready to wow audiences at Ipswich Regent Theatre this festive season.

The cast this year includes two soap stars from BBC’s EastEnders – Vicki Michelle as the Evil Queen and Jazzy Phoenix as Princess Aurora.

Best known as the waitress Yvette in Allo Allo! Vicki has appeared in I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here and Emmerdale in addition to EastEnders.

Newcomer to EastEnders Jazzy Phoenix plays the beautiful panto princess. This will be Jazzy’s first-time visiting Ipswich and says she is really ‘excited to be here’.

Body popping dancers Twist & Pulse (Ashley Glazebrook and Glen Murphy) of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) fame will play the henchmen with some impressive moves. They’ve been dancing all over the world, but it’s not their first time in Ipswich as they have performed here on tour.

Stage star AJ Jenks is Prince Charming. His theatre credits include the title role in the National tour of Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, he’s also played Barry Gibb and Elvis. As well as fantastic vocal ability, AJ is an accomplished guitarist – something audiences will be able to enjoy in this year’s pantomime!

Audience favourites Mike ‘Squeaky’ McClean (Jester) and Gavin Ashbarry (Dame) return this year with more hilarious antics and fantastical costumes as they really brought the house down last year! They will be joined on stage by Freya Karlettis who plays the Good Fairy. Freya was the youngest ever person to play Young Nala in The Lion King in London’s West End. She’s also appeared in BBC’s Happy Families.

Councillor Sophie Connelly, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Customers and Culture, says:

“The annual traditional pantomime at Ipswich Regent Theatre is something that residents and visitors really enjoy and is a big part of the festive spirit for many families.

Producers of Sleeping Beauty are promising a spectacular show, thanks to fantastic special effects and 3D projection for 26 spell-binding performances beginning on Friday 15 December.

“I look forward to seeing audiences enjoy the performance of this year’s stars.”
