On 22 February 2017, Ipswich Borough Council met to adopt the Ipswich Local Plan 2011-2031, in accordance with Regulations 17 and 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.  The Local Plan comprises the Core Strategy and Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) Review, Site Allocations and Policies (incorporating IP-One Area Action Plan) DPD, Policies Map and IP-One Area Inset Policies Map.

The adopted Core Strategy and Policies DPD Review is a strategic document setting out the vision, objectives and spatial planning strategy for the Borough of Ipswich up to 2031, and contains policies to facilitate sustainable development. The adopted Site Allocations and Policies (incorporating IP-One Area Action Plan) DPD allocates sites for development and identifies sites or areas for protection across the whole of the Borough. The Policies Maps illustrate geographically the application of the policies in the adopted development plan.

The Adopted Local Plan 2011 - 2031 covers Ipswich Borough and comprises the two documents and plans below:
