A Personal Search does not provide all the information given by a full search as it is an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register only.

An electronic Personal Search can be obtained whereby an extract of the Local Land Charges Register will be provided by Local Land Charges Officers and will be electronically dispatched direct back to yourselves. This can be requested and paid for by using the Public Access link below.

Alternatively, you can email us your details and the details of the property/site to be searched. A site plan must be included with each application in order to identify the site. Please use the email address provided under Contact Details.

We will let you know when the information is ready for you to collect from the Customer Services Centre. There is no charge for this service.

Highways issues

On 1st April 2013 all highways functions previously carried out by Ipswich Borough Council under an agency agreement were transferred back to Suffolk County Council.

Therefore, Suffolk County Council is now responsible for answering local search highways questions. Contact the Suffolk County Council Land Charges team on 01473 264190 or email land.charges@suffolk.gov.uk.

Under the Highways Act 1980, both Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council must make available for inspection, free of charge, a copy of the Highways Register. Please call in to the Customer Services Centre if you wish to view it.

Public Rights of Way

Although Ipswich Borough Council has the legal powers to make Public Path Creation Orders, Public Path Creation Agreements, Walkway Agreements, Public Path Diversion Orders and Public Path Extinguishment Orders, these powers are very rarely used and currently there are none outstanding within the borough boundary that have not yet been implemented .
